Tory Lanez has released the first album he recorded entirely from his prison cell.
On Friday, March 7, the Canadian artist shared his new LP PETERSON via One Umbrella Records. His album begins with a montage of all the press coverage he received after he was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion and sentenced to serve 10 years behind bars. The album continues with songs about how he's been feeling since he got locked including "Free Me" featuring Jaquain, "Lawyer Fees" and others. Max B, who's also incarcerated, appears on the "MAWA Interlude" and artist Davo joins him on "$ailor Moon" with King Midas.
The 20-track project also includes contributions from his father Sonstar Peterson as well as a brief cameo from The Joe Budden Podcast, which went viral soon after the album dropped. A clip from the podcaster's commentary about Tory's music pops up in the middle of "9$IDE x Amethyst." On the same song, Lanez also reveals that he tried to reach out to Iggy Azalea in the song, but she has him blocked.
"It be nights I want to talk to Iggy, but she block me," he raps before mentioning Iggy's birth name. "Amethyst, if you ever hear this s**t, shawty, call me/You know that I'm always makin' spicy b***hes salty."
Tory Lanez announced the plans to drop his new album earlier this week. PETERSON serves as the follow-up to his previous projects Lost Cause and Alone At Prom (Deluxe). Both albums are comprised of music that was made before he was sent to prison. Listen to Tory Lanez's new album on iHeartRadio now!
