Fans are eagerly waiting for more details about Kendrick Lamar's upcoming film following an alleged update about the potential title.

A New Zealand-based app called "Originals for Paramount+" reportedly revealed the name of Lamar's upcoming movie. According to a listing fans online pointed out on Wednesday, March 5, the film will be called Whitney Springs and is set to debut on July 11. Lamar is included in the cast along with Celeste Octavia and Heretic star Chloe East. The title spread on social media over the past few days, however, neither Paramount+ nor the film's producers, Lamar and pgLang's Dave Free, have confirmed the reports.

The app that revealed the title is an informational website that provides details about upcoming releases on Paramount+, but it's "not affiliated with, endorsed by or in any way associated with Paramount+ or its products and services." After the reports spread on social media, the original cover photo was replaced and the page was renamed to "Untitled Trey Parker/Matt Stone/Kendrick Lamar Comedy." This is the same title other sites like IMDB have listed for the film.

Here's what we do know about K.Dot's first major film endeavor. The synopsis on IMDB says the movie is about "a black man interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum [who] finds out that his white girlfriend's ancestors once owned his." The "Not Like Us" rapper and Free will produce the film with "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. There's no confirmation of Lamar's role in the film outside of producing. Vernon Chatman penned the live-action comedy.

Last year, Paramount+ alluded to the film dropping on Independence Day ahead of other major anticipated movies like James Gunn's Superman and Jurassic World 4. As of this report, July 4 is still the intended release date.
