The mother of POORSTACY's child was arrested on the night the artist allegedly tried to kill himself.
According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, December 3, Nicole Grikstas was taken into custody by police after they discovered she and the rapper, born Carlito Milfort, allegedly used drugs with their child nearby in the days leading up to his death. In an interview with police, Grikstas said she and Milfort checked into a motel in Boca Raton, where they stayed for 10 days. During their stay, she said they used cocaine, MDMA, and Xanax in front of the child.
On the night before his death, POORSTACY took cocaine and Grikstas took a dose of MDMA. The couple reportedly argued throughout the night and accused each other of cheating on one another. Police claim Grikstas did not try to remove the child from the room during their argument. At one point, Grikstas said Milfort accused her of hiding his drugs. He allegedly removed her clothes and forcibly checked her vaginal and anal areas before he hit her. He then pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot her if she didn't tell him where the drugs were.
Grikstas claimed Milfort went back and forth between pointing the gun at her and at his own head. He ultimately pointed the gun at his head and fired in the early hours of Saturday morning. Milfort was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Grikstas was arrested hours later and charged with child neglect without causing great bodily harm. Police allege both Milfort and Grikstas exposed their child to multiple drugs. They also claim Grikstas didn't attempt to protect her child while Milfort waved his gun around. Grikstas's family is currently looking after the child.
Police have determined that Milfort died by suicide, but the rapper's family still believes there was foul play.
