The New York Rangers (34-39-9) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (50-26-6) 4-2 on Wednesday night at Benchmark International Arena. The game was the regular season finale for both teams.
The Rangers built a 3-0 lead midway through the second period before the Lightning got a goal from Oliver Bjorkstrand to pull within 3-1. After New York made it 4-0, Corey Perrey added a goal early in the third period to make it 4-2, but that would be as close as Tampa Bay would get.
The Lightning now look ahead to a first-round playoff matchup with home ice against the Montreal Canadiens.
