President Trump yesterday honored three Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies who died in the line of duty last year.

Corporal Luis Paez, Deputy Ignacio "Dan" Diaz and Deputy Ralph "Butch" Waller were killed when a car slammed into the motor unit crew while they were doing detail along the shoulder of Southern Boulevard in Loxahatchee just days before Thanksgiving.

The president awarded them with the nation’s first-ever Medals of Sacrifice from the White House.

Trump described the deputies’ reputation within the Sheriff’s Office, their roles serving in the presidential motorcades, and how honored he was to attend their memorial service last year.

The president noted his administration intends to advocate for a bill that would award the new medal to law enforcement officers and first responders who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty.

By Trump's side were Florida Congressmen Byron Donalds and Brian Mast. Mast earlier announced that he has introduced the bill that Trump had referenced.
